City Business Traineeships Employers

A diversity programme offering talented students from inner-London the chance to gain a paid summer internship.

What do we mean by ‘talented’?

The competition for this programme is huge. It’s been running for over 9 years and each year more students apply so you will have a good choice of candidates. We have set a minimum grade B requirement for GCSE Maths and English. A number of the students on this programme will achieve A and B grades at A Level.

What’s the benefit to you?

A relationship with one (or some) of the City’s future ‘high-flyers’ which you can nurture as they progress through university. What you pay them is negotiable but will certainly be less than temporary staff to cover the holiday period.

What’s the benefit to the students?

A paid placement that provides real experience of working in the City and a chance to build a strong relationship with a City employer.

How long can they work with you?

We ask employers to provide internships of between 6 and 13 weeks, usually between July and September before applicants start their university courses. There are also some students that are looking for gap year opportunities.

The City Business Traineeship programme is managed and delivered by the Brokerage on behalf of the City of London Corporation.
