This December you can help us access up to £10,000 in funding through the Big Give's Christmas Challenge!
The Christmas Challenge is a fundraising drive where donations can be matched up to 100%. The challenge is that limited matched funds are available over three days to all charities within our sector – so we need your help to maximise our donations during the challenge!
Over three days, the funds will be released at 10am. Donations will be matched in full while the funds are available, so to maximise the chances of your donation being doubled you should aim to donate at or just after 10am.
Last year, the funds for each day tended to be used up within around 30 minutes so aim to make your donation between 10.00 and 10.30am on one of the following days:
Thursday 4th December at 10am
Friday 5th December at 10am
Saturday 6th December at 10am
We have an amazing £10,000 of funding available to match donations – but we need your help to access it! As well as making a donation, please ask your friends, colleagues and anyone else you know to make a contribution.
All donations, whether matched or not, will go to the Brokerage Citylink – and we’re using them to contribute towards our Outreach programme. This provision allows us to deliver workshops and events in schools and colleges, reaching out to young people who may not have otherwise had a chance to engage with the City or be aware of the opportunities it can provide.
Here's some of our partner teachers talking about the importance of our Outreach work:
"Staff from the Brokerage have always been flexible working with us to best serve the needs of our young people. A very good example was how they fully embraced a new programme we introduced last year – Ambition to Reality. This is a week- long programme of employability skills and Brokerage staff have assisted with CV, presentation and interview skill workshops. They also offered mock interviews to a number of our students too. They are involved again this year. Indeed only on Monday, a staff member gave an assembly to Year 12 students on the opportunities of apprenticeships in the City.
As a school we have found the staff either when they visit our school or indeed when they organise events in the City to be fantastic with our young people and very inspiring. We absolutely know that the programmes they run make a huge difference to the life chances of our young people."
"The work of the Brokerage in expanding our students ideas, perceptions and aspirations has been fantastic. This has become even more important recently as many schools are now not sending their students on work experience. Recently The Brokerage helped out at an Employability Skills event making up for the loss of work experience so students would be prepared for the world of work, CV prep, interview skills etc.
I feel with the schools concentrating more and more on exams and grades, the World of Work agenda seems to be taking a bit of a back seat yet it is so important for students who get little chance to gain work experience and have little knowledge of the world of work."
"It has been a pleasure to have worked with the Brokerage this year, and the workshops that they have set up and run have been of immense value to our students.
The Brokerage ran a drop down day for all of our Year 10s which was successful in allowing students to understand the type of work that happens in Central London, raising their aspirations. Both days were run seamlessly and professionally, and I look forward to working with the Brokerage on similar workshops next year."
