Students 'graduate' from 10 week mentoring programme run by Rabobank in partnership with The Brokerage

Liz Proctor, Teacher from Pimlico Academy, said: “Thanks so much for all your hard work on this and for keeping the faith with us. We now have five fabulous champions here! I do hope that you will consider us again for the programme next year.”

During an initial meet and greet, introduced by Paul Beiboer, GM London Branch and the Chief Executive of The Brokerage, Bridget Gardiner, students and mentors took part in a 'speed dating' excerise to get to know each other. The students then listed which mentor they felt would be able to best help them through the programme. With the help of The Brokerage each mentee was matched with one of our Rabobank mentors (Rishi Sethi, Jennifer Young, Stephen Firminger, Melanie Giles, Charlotte Pegg, Chris Kimpton, Benisha Owousu, Tommy Flynn, Emmanuel Rodriguez & Matthew Chapman).

Over the 10 weeks mentors coached their mentee on various work skills such as; CV writing, presentation skills, time management techniques, alongside working with them to create a presentation on 'a topic currently being studied that inspires them'.

The programme's Grande Finale played out in a graduation ceremony where each mentee had to present their topic in front of peers, mentors, friends and family, and a panel of judges. The two winners (Stephen Firminger and Jennifer Young's mentees) each won a week's work experience at the branch.  Photo below shows Stephen with his mentee winner, Amir.

Rishi Sethi, CSR Advisor, Europe, said: "

"Our new programme spans across our Give Back campaign, by our mentors giving their time and knowledge to the mentees. It's great that the programme has been such a success. It will now become one of our annual programmes, and I hope many more colleagues sign up next year!"
