Second annual conference aims to provide information to post-A-level students into City and Canary Wharf careers.

Lloyd's Community Programme hosted its second annual IntoWork conference to provide young people from inner city schools with more insight into careers in the City and Canary Wharf.

The conference, which is designed and delivered by staff from social mobility and employment charity The Brokerage, gave 100 students who had just completed A-levels an opportunity to understand Lloyd’s and learn how to improve their chances of success when applying for jobs in the financial and insurance sectors.

The one-day event included employability skills workshops, insight sessions from industry experts, a networking lunch, and a Q&A session with a panel of staff from across the Lloyd’s insurance market.

“Young people from London have some of the best and most exciting financial and insurance careers available on their doorstep, but relatively few of them have the information, guidance and support to help them access these roles," Bridget Gardiner, executive director at The Brokerage, said. “Events like this, supported by Lloyd’s Community Programme and the Lloyd’s insurance market, ensure ambitious and talented students from London schools gain the skills, confidence and best possible chance to compete for jobs on a level playing field."
