Charity supporters raise over £10,000 through fundraising events
29 Nov 17

Our work with employers underpins everything we do, and in the past few months we’ve been delighted to see some of our corporate volunteers take part in our 2017 challenge fundraising activities – the London Duathlon, Royal Parks Half Marathon and tandem skydive!

Each year we offer our corporate and alumni network the opportunity to face their fears, go out of their comfort zone, beat their personal best and raise money for a great cause!

Joseph, a mentee of the 2017 Lloyd’s IntoWork Summer Mentoring programme, kicked-off this year’s activities by taking part in the London Duathlon in September, an event made up of running and cycling in the stunning surroundings of Richmond park.

For the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October, our participants were Rebecca from Headland Consultancy, and Cameron, Matthew and Laura from TheCityUK, each of them representing different levels of athletic skill and fitness – or so they say - we were extremely impressed with their efforts, wondering how they made it look so easy!

Running and cycling is not everyone’s cup of tea, and we totally get that, which is why we offer the option of doing something totally different – a tandem skydive! This is what Sarah, also from TheCityUK, opted for. We’re so glad that Sarah thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

Thank you so much to all our challenge fundraising participants – we are extremely grateful for your support

Together, our amazing supporters have raised over £4,000 through these activities!

In addition to the organised fun we provide, we’ve also been delighted to have volunteers raising money for us doing their own thing.

Earlier this year, employees from Société Générale took part in a sports fundraising challenge, which saw them take on an impressive static bike ride, going the distance from London to Paris.

In March employees from TheCityUK were caked in mud from head-to-toe as they took on the challenge of Tough Mudder.

From Headland Consultancy, employees took part in the Hackney Half in April - one of the top ten half marathons in the UK

In the summer we were delighted to attend a charity football tournament, organised by Capsicum, which raised over £12,000 in total for The Brokerage, The Sick Children’s Trust, and Mind.

And finally, we’d like to thank Fabiana from Synechron who travelled to Manchester in October to run the Half Marathon.

We can’t thank our fundraisers and supporters enough! All the funds raised will help us to provide more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds with experiences of work, employability skills and jobs.
