These events are open to all young people aged 16-25, regardless of whether they are a registered candidate or not. For each event, volunteers from corporate partners will be joining us so you can interact directly with professionals working in these areas.

How to Secure an Apprenticeship/ Vocational training Masterclass with Newton Investment Management
If you are interested in apprenticeships, vocation training schemes or alternative routes into the finance industry, it is CRITICAL that you attend this masterclass!
Newton is a global investment management firm, managing assets for institutional investors and charities.

The masterclass will cover:
– Application process and top tips
– Speakers’ individual motivations for applying
– Challenges and concerns: breaking the stigma around non-university routes in
– Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) life during and after the scheme
– What it’s like working at Newton

Insurance can provide many interesting roles including Actuary, Underwriting, Legal, Accounting as well as more exciting roles that you may not associate with the sector. This is a fantastic chance to hear from City professionals from MX Underwriting (formerly CLS Risk) about their experiences.

MX Underwriting is an Managing General Agent (MGA) committed to innovation. They provide risk solutions for clients operating in areas with complex insurance requirements. Their specialist experience spans across renewables, Mergers & Acquisition, property development and environmental markets. MX Underwriting (incorporating CLS Risk) was recently launched and has plans to build a business with £100million in gross written premium (GWP) within its first year of trading.

Find out how varied careers in the insurance sector can be. In this session we will be hearing from a variety of volunteers including from the Renewable, Power and Energy team at McGill and Partners.

Renewable energy is one of the most exciting areas of Insurance and is an subsector that is set to continue to grow. If you’re passionate about our planet and learning about what the City is doing to protect it’s future, this is a great session for you.

Launched in 2019, McGill and Partners is a new boutique risk solutions business created by some of the most well-regarded leaders in the insurance industry, specialising in complex and challenging needs.

A Day in the Life of an Actuary…with Canopius
Actuaries are problem solvers and strategic thinkers, who use their mathematical skills to help measure the probability and risk of future events. They use these skills to predict the financial impact of these events on a business and their clients.

Come and learn more about this exciting AND highly paid role in the City. Being led by volunteers from the leading Insurance firm Canopius, you will explore what an Actuary does, what their day to day role looks like, as well as taking part in interactive activities where you will be able to practice the skills necessary to succeed within the role. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions to and network with a variety of volunteers from Canopius.
