The Brokerage Interim CEO

I have had the privilege of working at The Brokerage since 2016, and for more than a decade across education and social mobility charities. In that time, what has remained constant is the energy, resilience and drive of our candidates. They come to us with ambition and determination; our role is to ensure they have the skills, confidence, networks and opportunities to match it.

At The Brokerage, everything we do starts with young people and their ambition. Every year, we work alongside talented, determined individuals who have the ability to thrive in professional careers, but who too often face barriers that have nothing to do with their potential. This Impact Report tells the story of how, together with our partners and supporters, we are helping to remove those barriers and open doors.

The outcomes in this report are a powerful reflection of that shared effort. In 2024/25, 74% of Brokerage candidates secured professional roles – more than double the national average for young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

These figures matter, not as an end in themselves, but because they represent lives changed: young people entering careers that offer progression, stability and choice, often for the first time in their families.

I would like to thank our candidates for trusting us with their journeys, our partners for their continued collaboration, and our team for their unwavering commitment.

I look forward to building on this impact in the year ahead.

For Employers: Unlock a Pipeline of Exceptional Talent

Partnering with The Brokerage offers your organisation a unique opportunity to access a diverse pool of driven and capable young individuals who are often overlooked.

Our candidates are 1.75 times more likely to secure a professional role than their peers from similar backgrounds, as confirmed by independent analysis. This demonstrates the effectiveness of our approach in preparing young people for the demands of the professional world.

Through our comprehensive programmes, including the Next Gen Talent Programme, Pathways to the City, and the GEEP (Graduate Engineering Engagement Programme) in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering, we equip candidates with the essential skills and knowledge to thrive in your organisation.

  • 74% of Brokerage candidates secure professional roles, compared to just 34% of young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds nationally.
The gap in access to professional careers is stark - but it is not inevitable when opportunity is matched with the right support.

  • We were able to obtain career destinations information for 164 young
people who had taken part in our Pathways to The City programme and then graduated in 2024. The vast majority had been to university.
    - 74% were in professional roles
    - 12% were in non-professional roles
    - 14% were in temporary roles such as internships

Supported by the Quilter foundation and Mileway, The Next Gen Talent Career Programme pilot worked with hundreds of students to help them develop their skills.
The programme began its first full year in September 2025 and has already received support from The Quilter Foundation, The Worshipful Company of International Bankers, Westminster Foundation and The Commercial Education Trust.
