Bridget GardinerBridget Gardiner, executive director 
Bridget's career spans the private, public and voluntary sectors. She has been director of fundraising and marketing at both Richard House Children’s Hospice in east London and Epilepsy Society, the leading medical and research charity for epilepsy in the UK. Bridget joined The Brokerage in January 2015 as executive director and is responsible for strategic planning, awareness raising and income generation, as well as overseeing governance, finance and managing The Brokerage staff team.

Melissa LucienMelissa Lawrence, head of programmes 
Melissa has worked for The Brokerage since 2002. As head of programmes, Melissa provide strategic oversight and direction for the programmes team and works closely with corporate partners to develop bespoke programmes for non-advantaged Londoners. Melissa is also part of the senior management team, playing an instrumental role in shaping the charity. A highlight of her role is hearing from former candidates who are excited to provide opportunities for the next generation of candidates from The Brokerage.

Rosa Morgan-Baker

Rosa Morgan-Baker, head of partnerships
Rosa joined The Brokerage in October 2012. After managing a range of programmes on our programmes team, she joined the senior management team in October 2015 and was made head of partnerships and income generation in April 2016.

Rosa works closely with companies to help build their HR and CSR programmes to attract and support young people from non-advantaged backgrounds. Her favourite part of her role is seeing how inspired young people are after meeting volunteers at our partner companies.

Programmes team

Kate SuartKate Suart, relationship manager, Lloyd's Community Programme
Kate loves connecting companies and talented young people. Her role involves introducing young people to opportunities within the Lloyd's market and the wider insurance market through masterclasses, pipeline programmes, mentoring programmes and placements.

One of the best parts of her job is hearing how our candidates have impressed prospective employers with their passion, creativity and willingness to learn. Kate joined The Brokerage in April 2016 from Future Foundations, where she was senior project and development manager.

Kieron Lock

Kieron Lock, programme manager

Having joined The Brokerage in July 2016, Kieron oversees the Fast Track programme, which focuses on supporting sixth form students looking for apprenticeships and alternatives to university. He also has responsibility for the design and delivery of Year 12 mentoring programmes.

Kieron has extensive experience within the education sector, having worked as a history teacher, learning resource centre manager and teaching assistant in primary and secondary schools across London.

Jhane Gibson, administrator 
Jhane has recently graduated from the University of Nottingham where she studied Psychology. Throughout university she worked as a student ambassador where she realised her passion for working with young people. Since then, Jhane has had a range of experience working with education charities and start-ups.

Her work at The Brokerage involves assisting the programmes team and helping with general administration tasks. Jhane's favourite aspect of her job is seeing all the planning and organisation come to life at events and interacting with young people every day.

Tom SlatterTom Slatter, senior programme manager
Having previously worked as a secondary school teacher, Tom now leads The Brokerage’s education programmes. He liaises closely with schools, organising and leading workshops at top firms in the City and London’s financial districts to give young people insights into career opportunities.

One of his favourite activities to lead is The Trading Game, an interactive stock market simulation. The best part of his job is seeing young people progress into paid roles.

Joshua DiamondJoshua Diamond, programme officer
Joshua brings a wealth of experience in the youth charity sector, having delivered a project under the government’s Youth Social Action Fund. A programme officer since September 2017, Joshua leads workshops at inspirational locations around the city. 

He believes in the potential of young people, no matter their background, and that all deserve a brilliant and fair start in life. He remains a keen community volunteer, working with young people on a regular basis.

Marketing and communications 

Joanne TurrellJoanne Turrell, marketing and communications manager
Jo joined The Brokerage in May 2016, having graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in Marketing, Communications & Advertising in 2015.

Jo makes it her business to spread word of The Brokerage far and wide, championing our successes (there are many!) and raising awareness via our website, the media and social media. She also takes the lead on fundraising and looks after our alumni community.

Sessional workers

Helen McKay-FergusonHelen McKay-Ferguson, sessional worker
Helen first joined The Brokerage in 2017 as a short-term content writer, helping the charity with key projects, including the launch of its website and 2016/17 Impact Report. As well as being an avid writer, Helen is also a primary school teacher and, having taught in schools across North London, has had the privilege of working with some very talented young people from diverse backgrounds.

Helen began delivering workshop sessions for The Brokerage in 2017, helping to raise aspirations of non-advantaged young Londoners.

Michelle Edwards, sessional worker
Michelle has successfully transitioned hundreds of young people from education into further training or employment during her extensive career spanning 20 years across the private, public and voluntary sectors as a qualified careers coach. She is a passionate supporter of social mobility through education and believes it is every individual’s right to reach their potential and be given the opportunities to do so.

Michelle joined The Brokerage in 2017 to help raise aspirations of the young people on our programmes. She gives them the knowledge and insight into the roles available in the corporate world by facilitating careers workshops with our employer partners.

Karen Rosen The Brokerage

Karen Rosen, sessional worker
Karen Rosen joined The Brokerage in February 2018. She has a law degree from the University of Southern California and has worked in the education sector for over 20 years, at a university, in charities and museums. She enjoys working with young people, helping them to reach their potential.

At The Brokerage, Karen helps to raise aspirations of young people by delivering workshops to introduce them to the various career opportunities available within financial, professional and related services.
