Your Journey Could Shape Someone Else’s Future: Celebrating Volunteers Week 2026

This Volunteers Week, we’re celebrating the people who give their time, insight, honesty, and encouragement to help young people take confident steps into the world of work.
The theme for National Volunteers Week 2026 is “Your Year to Volunteer” and at The Brokerage, we know just how powerful volunteering can be.
Every conversation, every workshop, every piece of advice shared by a volunteer has the potential to change the direction of a young person’s future.
At The Brokerage, we are passionate about supporting diverse early-career talent and helping bridge the gap between education and employment. Through meaningful employer encounters, skills sessions, networking events, mock interviews, mentoring, and workplace experiences, our volunteers help young people better understand the realities of professional life - not just the successes, but the challenges and lessons learned along the way too.
We believe young people benefit most from hearing authentic career journeys. The highs, the setbacks, the pivots, the moments of uncertainty - these are the stories that build confidence, resilience, and aspiration.
The Brokerage Volunteer Hub was launched in 2025 and is now fundamental to how The Next Gen Talent Network of young people connect with employers. From in-person micro mentoring to online virtual events – the platform offers events throughout the year for young people 16 to 25 to join and professional employers the chance to share industry insight and real experience.

The Impact So Far
Thanks to the incredible support of volunteers and partners, our Volunteer and Events programme continue to grow:
January 2025 – June 2026
31 volunteer events – more to come!
158 volunteers signed up
These numbers represent more than participation. They represent conversations that built confidence, connections that opened doors, and experiences that helped young people feel seen, prepared, and inspired.
“This was a wonderfully fulfilling experience. I ‘interviewed’ two young people from different backgrounds and with different ambitions. One thing that really stood out though was their desire to be successful.”

Why Volunteering Matters
For many young people, professional environments can feel unfamiliar and difficult to navigate without access to networks, role models, or industry insight.
That’s why volunteers are such an important part of The Brokerage community.
By sharing your experience, advice, and perspective, you can help a young person:
Build confidence in professional settings
Understand workplace expectations
Develop employability skills
Expand their aspirations and career awareness
Feel more prepared to thrive in the workplace
Whether you’re attending one of our workshops, supporting a mock interview, speaking on a panel, or simply sharing your journey - your experience matters.
