What happens when industry experience meets genuine enthusiasm from young people?
For Jordan Jones, volunteering with The Brokerage has been a reminder of just how much talent is out there — and how much companies can do to make sure that talent has the opportunity to thrive.
Jordan brings his experience of different roles - from Insurance Broker, MI Analyst, Assistant Underwriter to Underwriting Director – at various firms, when volunteering with us. He generously shares his time and insights through mentoring sessions and careers panels for our Talent Network who gain so much from his encouraging outlook.
Volunteering isn't just about sharing industry knowledge. It's about listening, encouraging and recognising the potential in the young people taking part.
“The young people really take advantage of the sessions and want to be there. Their enthusiasm is infectious and makes you want to help them as much as you can.”
And that experience has changed Jordan’s perspective on what happens after the opportunity is given:
“It has made me realise how much talent is out there, but also how companies have to adapt policies to develop young talent. Getting into a role is step one, but then providing an environment for them to thrive is the continuing challenge.”
That’s why stories matter.
Because social mobility isn't simply about opening the door. It’s about creating opportunities, challenging assumptions and building workplaces where young people can develop, contribute and thrive.
