Over the last few weeks we’ve seen a wider debate around white privilege, institutional racism and more attention on the link between race and social mobility. We’ve been hearing loud and clear how you have been affected by the events of the last few weeks and these discussions.

We feel strongly about the role The Brokerage can and must play in bringing about change – faster, better, more vocally – in “our” area of expertise, as the broker between you and the professional world. So we want to hear more from you. We want to hear about how you have been affected, how you are feeling about the current situation and how you feel institutional racism could affect your future.

Therefore, from now on we’ll be hosting a series of Youth Forums. Our first Youth Forum will be focussed on race and we want to hear about your concerns and opinions on race, race issues and racial injustices. We want the forum to be a space where you can share your experiences (if you want to) or raise concerns about racial and diversity concerns in the workplace.

What?

The Youth Forum will be hosted on Zoom which you can share your opinions and concerns virtually. The forum will be hosted by BAME facilitators to make sure the conversation is facilitated by those who understand. Once you have registered for this event you will be provided with more information about Zoom and how to use it.

When?

The first forum will be held on the Tuesday 7th of July 2020 at 3:30pm

Who?

We want to able to hear from everyone during the forum, so we’re limiting the forum to 25 young people. Therefore, registration is first come first serve.

How?

Please email Katie Rabot at Katie.rabot@thebrokerage.org.uk with your interest, you will then be sent a parental consent form and a registration link to the Youth Forum.

At The Brokerage, our vision is a world where a young person’s ability and aspiration alone determine their career path. We hope that this forum, which will be the first of many, can be one of the ways we can do this.

Please email Katie Rabot with any questions.

  • The staff at The Brokerage are tremendously good at supporting their candidates. I felt really comfortable whenever asking for advice and always had quick replies to my emails. The team truly is selfless in their work and I can’t thank them enough – these opportunities have been incredible.
