Sarah Devonport

Chief Executive Officer

Sarah joined The Brokerage as Chief Executive Officer in March 2023.

After 15 years working in business development for a range of large corporates and driven by her passion to make a difference, she embarked on a second career in education outreach within STEM. Sarah has developed and managed several programmes that have helped to increase public perceptions of engineering as well as working with employers to improve the impact and reach of their education programmes. Through trial and error, Sarah has learnt what works and what doesn’t. Being at the sharp end of delivery and working at a more strategic level to develop national programmes every day, she continues to learn.

“Young people’s interests and behaviours are ever-changing; therefore, we can never stand still. The education system is a long way from perfect, and the world’s problems continue to grow. Our future is in the hands of the next generation, and I would like to give them the best chance of getting it right—wouldn’t you?”

Tom Slatter

Head of Insights & Impact

Tom joined the Brokerage in 2016, working first on education programmes before moving onto Insights and Impact work.

He worked as a secondary school teacher before moving into the world of social mobility charities in 2012, focusing first on university access and then, with The Brokerage, on access to work.

Having worked directly with young people via educational and charity programmes, Tom is enthusiastic about social mobility. He is also convinced that working with young people before they join the workforce is only half the puzzle. He is therefore also passionate about helping companies take a structured, data driven approach to social mobility in their workplaces.
