Philip became chair of trustees at The Brokerage in March 2018. Philip is an independent non-executive director and chair of the audit committee of Lloyd’s managing agent Argo. After qualifying as a barrister in 1980, Philip began his career in the insurance sector as a graduate trainee with Skandia Insurance and subsequently held numerous senior management and advisory positions in the London insurance market, latterly specialising in situations of organisational and operational change, including M&A and legacy issues.

Philip is a liveryman and a managing trustee of the Worshipful Company of Insurers.

Ahmer has been with EY for over 10 years as part of its assurance function, he has served in a variety of jurisdictions and on a number of global accounts specifically focusing on the Wealth and Asset Management sector. He studied in the Middle East, Pakistan and in the UK, is a qualified accountant and holds a Masters degree in Economics.

Ahmer joined The Brokerage in 2014 as a trustee and treasurer.

Mohammed Marikar

Mohammed became a trustee with The Brokerage in July 2016. He is the director of intelligence and automation within the Royal Bank of Canada’s Wealth Management International (WMI) division, and launched WMI’s Artificial Intelligence project in 2016. He co-chairs RBC’s Multicultural Employee Alliance (MEA) in the UK.

Mohammed started his financial career in 2004 as a trainee with UBS Investment Bank and progressed to become one of its youngest associate directors aged 23, and in 2011 moved to the Wealth Management division as UK business development manager. Mohammed joined RBC in 2013 as business development manager.

Born in London, Mohammed graduated in Mathematics from Imperial College London and is an associate of the Royal College of Science. He has been programming computers since the age of five.

Esther is a corporate finance lawyer with over 15 years’ experience in the insurance sector, both in private practice and in-house. Esther qualified at City law firm Norton Rose Fulbright and subsequently held various legal roles within the insurance market, most recently as General Counsel at MS Amlin. She is currently working with Probitas 1492 Syndicate advising on corporate and governance.

Esther has had a long association with The Brokerage and joined as a trustee in July 2017.

Catherine is an independent consultant, supporting organisations in the digital policy field with strategy, governance, operations and impact planning. Her background spans education and skills policy with a specialism in digital skills.

Her previous experience includes positions of interim COO and Director at the Corsham Institute and Head of Digital Skills Policy for the Mayor of London. She is also Vice Chair of the techUK skills and diversity council.

Frank has over 35 years experience in the City as a stockbroker and corporate financier and is managing director of Hoyt Moxon, a corporate finance adviser to mining and oil gas companies and their professional advisers.

Frank is chairman of the RNLI City of London Committee, a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of International Bankers and a former trustee of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, Diabetes UK and Reach Volunteering. Frank joined The Brokerage as a trustee in December 2017.

Claire Taylor-Harris

Head of Marketing and Communications at Business in the Community

Claire became a trustee of The Brokerage in early 2021.  She is an experienced marketing and business leader with a career spanning nearly 20 years across the not for profit and healthcare sectors.

With significant experience at Board level within market leading organisations including Bupa and Lloyd Pharmacy, she is currently leading the Marketing, Communications and Events function at Business in the Community.

Buket Alex Eccles

Director, Global Strategy and Chief of Staff, HSBC

Buket became a trustee at The Brokerage in early 2021.  She is a Director covering Global Strategy and Chief of Staff within HSBC’s Wealth and Personal Banking business; at HSBC she is involved in a number of global and local diversity initiatives.

Previously, she was European Strategy Lead and Chief of Staff to the CEO of Visa Europe, supporting a number of key transformation projects including the $20bn acquisition of Visa Europe by Visa Inc.

She started her career as a management consultant working across a number of sectors including government, technology, e-commerce, and financial services.

She holds a bachelor’s degree with honours in Economics from University College London (UCL) and an interdisciplinary master’s degree in Engineering and Architecture from Cambridge University.
