Host a workshop

Each year we run over 300 workshops in host companies across London to provide students with the opportunity of visiting a business.

Working with our education team, many firms provide meeting rooms, refreshments and staff volunteers to enable us to deliver our aspiration-raising workshops that we offer for free to state schools from many of London’s most disadvantaged boroughs.

At each session volunteers are crucial for really bringing the world of work to life. Through sharing their knowledge and experiences, the volunteers help our young people to break down their perceptions of ‘City workers’ and understand that the people working in big corporations are just like them.

Workshops are really easy to host with each session being fully facilitated by The Brokerage team. Volunteers take part for up to an hour by being interviewed by the students, taking a tour around the company offices, leading a presentation activity or providing feedback through mock interviews.

With up to four sessions a day during term time, there is plenty of scope to get involved. Please get in touch to find out more.

Masterclasses

Masterclasses provide detailed insights into specific business areas or topics within financial, professional and related services. They are targeted at bright, state-educated students who are in Year 13. They are attended by between 12 and 25 students (depending on the size of the venue) and last 3-4 hours.

Masterclasses are led by business volunteers, including many alumni from The Brokerage, with a member of staff from The Brokerage present to support. We will be led by you on the topic of the session but can provide support and guidance in how you tailor the content so it is pitched at the right level for the audience.

Popular strands are:

  • CV & interview skills
  • Sector specific insights (e.g. Law in the City, an inside guide to derivatives, how to make the headlines – PR in business)
  • School subject linked (e.g. STEM in business)
  • Networking/building a personal brand

  • I’d like to thank you for giving students the opportunity to take part in the schools essay competition. It was an enriching experience for all participants.
