Generation 2020 Fund: Individual and Corporate Donations

The Brokerage launched the Generation 2020 Fund in response to the current crisis brought on by COVID-19, helping us support over 200 of our most disadvantaged, talented young people in our community. These crucial funds are helping us to develop a new digital package of support for our young people including webinars, mentoring and masterclasses with City employers, allowing us to carry on running our life changing programmes.

Since the launch of the fund two weeks ago we have been amazed by the fantastic support we have received, with some incredible donations from the Lloyd’s Community Programme, Societe Generale UK Foundation, the Worshipful Company of Insurers, TheCityUK, BMO and Talbot Underwriting.

We are also now receiving donations from individual Generation 2020 sponsors – a donation of £500 supports one young person with an enhanced package of digitally enabled one-to-one support, including mentoring and masterclasses with City employers. A donation of £5000 will support TEN young people.

Whether you are a corporate or individual Generation 2020 sponsor, you will join a community of sponsors that we will keep updated with all developments in our programmes and the achievements of our young people.

Here’s a snapshot of what has been achieved so far with the funding we have received:

  • Registration process: Moving our registration process from face to face to online to allow new young people to still become part of our community.
  • Live webinar series:  Our first webinar saw The Brokerage staff give our young people an update on The Brokerage’s planned online Our next webinar was a live Q&A with Reed Smith on how work is changing during COVID-19 Lockdown, followed by a webinar last Friday on motivation and resilience with Clifford Chance.
  • Generation 2020 Academy: We are working hard to develop our Generation 2020 Academy which will include an integrated package of in-depth webinars, masterclasses, 121 support and our flagship online mentoring programmes. Watch this space!

We are also continuing to engage with our young people through a series of ‘Brokerage Bites’ and enhanced social media engagement including quizzes, hints and tips.

  • I signed up with The Brokerage and attended a number of workshops which helped me to practice interview skills, improve my CV and prepare for online tests that can often be found in most application processes.
