Performing on the Job: Next Gen Talent Panel at Quilter London

Candidates from The Brokerage’s new Next Gen Talent Career Programme recently attended an inspiring career panel session titled ‘Performing on the Job’, hosted at Quilter London with the support of Quilter’s industry volunteers.

 

The session provided invaluable insights on how to manage workplace challenges and thrive in professional environments. Quilter volunteers shared their own experiences and offered practical advice to help young talent successfully navigate the workplace.

• Time Management: Ask for help when prioritising tasks, identify what’s urgent, and tackle the most difficult task first – the day can only get better!
• Adapting to the Workplace: Observe how colleagues work, adapt positive habits, and embrace trial and error to find what suits you best.
• Standing Out in Interviews: Research the company, show curiosity, and highlight what excites you about the role. Enthusiasm can set you apart.
• Building Confidence: Push yourself outside your comfort zone, track your achievements, and welcome feedback as a learning tool.

The panel also addressed common challenges such as imposter syndrome, with volunteers encouraging candidates to recognise that everyone starts somewhere – the key is to keep pushing yourself and taking opportunities.
