Momentum

…Interested in a career in banking and finance?

Momentum

We are very excited to announce that The Brokerage is once again partnering with Citi and State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), two of the biggest names in banking and finance, on a unique scheme for talented female undergraduates.

This is a chance to build your network at the very highest levels of the industry, get on the radar of two of the biggest firms in banking, and work with an experienced female professional to develop your employability skills.

The programme features a ‘business challenge’ with internships at Citi and SSGA on offer for the winners. However, the aim is to prepare all candidates with the tools required to successfully apply for summer internships and graduate schemes in banking and finance.

Here’s what one of the previous participants had to say about her experience on the programme:

The Momentum programme definitely exceeded my expectations! For me, having a mentor succeeding in the area I am pursuing a career in was invaluable. My meetings with her put things into perspective, and consistently encouraged me that I could achieve my goals, irrespective of the industry being male-dominated. In addition to that, the programme had practical activities to develop professional skills.

The mock interview, CV help and the final business presentation helped me work on skills that are crucial within the finance industry, but are not always directly developed whilst studying at university. I am currently in my final year studying Economics at Warwick, and look forward to starting an internship this summer at Citi, within their Markets division.

To be eligible for the Momentum programme, you must be:

• Female
• In your first or second year at university
• Have a minimum of A, B, B or equivalent UCAS points at A Level
• Strongly interested in a career in banking and/or finance
• Able to commit to a series of mentoring meetings between July and the end of August at either Citi’s or SSGA’s locations (both based in Canary Wharf) as well as an hour of preparation for each session.

If you meet this criteria and are interested in applying, please email Kieron Lock (kieron@thebrokerage.org.uk) to request more information.

  • Thank you Tom for all the hard work you have put into this, it has made a significant difference to our students, especially some of our lower ability kids who have unfortunate life problems. It truly is an inspiration to work alongside The Brokerage.
