Maths in the City

Maths in the City is an opportunity for students to explore the variety of ways that maths is used in the workplace.

Throughout the workshop students are introduced to a number of roles in professional and financial services that require mathematical ability, and find out how they could directly apply the maths they currently use at school/college in their future careers.

Students learning about the City

Students then have the opportunity to work through mathematical problems in the working world with employees at the host firm. The employees also answer students’ questions about their careers and the world of work, giving them an insight into the working life of a person who uses maths in their job.

Workshops can be tailored to suit either GCSE or A Level maths students of a high ability.
